Must-haves for Autumn/Fall PRIMARK Edition!

Must-haves for Autumn/Fall +Primark  Edition!

You know and I know that the old “I’ll just pop in for socks” excuse never works, we go in for socks and somehow get transported to another universe where the “ooh sure it’s only €4!” takes over and it’s all downhill from there, right? Ten minutes turns in to forty five, and you forget the socks and come out with a whole new bedroom ensemble, and a new pair of boots (but still no socks for the boots!) and three pairs of jeggings and make-up in two different shades because sure it was only four euro lads, and you might need both!

Yeah, me too.

If we stop kidding ourselves and decide to go for it shame-free here are just a few of my must-haves for the new season at PRIMARK/PENNYS (depending on which side of the border you fall).

Starting off with the bane of our lives when September rolls around, the yearly struggle of finding the right Winter Coat ™.

The waterfall effect duster coat comes in two shades, black and dusk pink, perfect for the milder Autumn weather, pre-winter - over a light jumper and jeans, or a dress and tights. Next up the the classic belted mac with a wide collar in a knotted grey and white shade, I absolutely need this coat in my life because it looks so cosy and comfortable, and such an easy to wear piece for the milder months and easily transitioned right in to winter. NEED!

Anyone that's been following my blog for a time knows I have a bit of a scarf obsession, and infinity scarves are the bomb for me. I've lost count at this stage how many I have, and yet I can't help myself! Do you see where the 'they're just five euro' mentality comes in now?

Mmmhm there it is.

But aren't these two adorable? Loving the waffle textured beige and the deeper berry toned scarf, both perfect with the other items shown too as a mix and match. Teaming the berry toned one over the 3/4 sleeve top and the cute stone washed denim jeggings + the duster jacket? It's a look I'm not mad at for sure! The New York themed hoodie made the cut simply because it's one of my best memories of this past year, and it's simple, and over-sized is key for a lazy weekend look. This, some dark skinny jeans, and my +adidas  All Stars? A win for chic comfort.

If winter coats aren't your thing yet I spotted a gorge fleece lined cropped textured jacket with a slight waterfall effected neckline that is the perfect every-day wearable jacket in my opinion, stylish but simple, and yet bang up to date trend wise too, and a complete steal for £25!

Honourable mention, because again, anyone that knows me knows that Housewares and Make-up are my two favourite things in life, and if you ever lose me in a department store (which, happens more often than you think I'm only 5'0!) these are the two places I will probably be.  So tiny mention for the +Primark online +Primark home items, a few key pieces for me for A/W 2016 are
as always a good blanket, for snuggling up to on the sofa, or for that extra insulation at bed time, teamed with the their long-burning candle range, this one is a favourite of mine; invoking memories of summer on those thundery nights to come with their Sea Salt & Lavender scent.

Ps. It's always important to support your local girl gang, and look stylish as hell while raising hell, so why not do both with that cute re-useable bottle/straw combo!

Affordable skincare gems from Superdrug!

Happy New Year everyone! Hope that 2016 is treating you nicely so far! Just a super quick post from some recent finds of mine from +Superdrug .

First up the +Superdrug brand own Vitamin E Moisture Boost Facial Serum, this was a impulse buy about two months ago, I was on the look out for a new Vitamin E cream product and stumbled onto this, and I have to say it's fantastic! Light weight, fast absorbing and leaves the skin with a really realistic glow that makes it fab for wearing in lieu of a heavy moisturiser, or as one of the steps in your pre-makeup routine. I've found that since I've started using this (and since the cold snap just refuses to go away) that it's really helped add an extra layer of protection to my skin as well as ultimately helping my makeup look smoother and more glowy and for the price point of under £5 can you really say no?

Nope!

So, if you're on the look out for something similar, be sure to give this a try.
Now this might seem silly, because it's really only make up wipes, but honestly how many times have you picked up makeup wipes and they've done nothing but wipe your makeup around your face? In my case, far too often.

+johnsonandjohnson  Face Care Makeup Be Gone Wipes.

Now, I try not to just resort to wipes when taking my makeup off, because as we know, there's still a lot left even if we 'look' like there's not. But these, again, were another impulse buy, I needed new ones so these were the first I saw. But honestly, as someone with dry and very picky skin, things like face wipes can be utterly drying almost instantly, so when I found these - thick and full of hydration (if you follow my TWITTER you'll have seen me raving about these already) and they removed, I want to say, at least 90 percent of my makeup with two wipes. I followed that up with my new ALPHA H  face wash, but for those of us on the go, or just feeling lazy. These are fantastic for dry skin. Not drying in the slightest either.
Win for affordable January finds!!

EIC does NYC

It's been a month since I set off for my first trip to New York - to meet up with friends across the pond. I was anxious of course, flying such a long way alone, a strange city, all that jazz. But, I was also so excited because I love to travel full stop and this was part of a bucket list of places for me, personally, that I wanted to touch base on 'in my 20s'. I was cutting it fine, I turned 30 (that's me sobbing in the distance!) on the 28th of last month, and I won't lie, it's been an adjustment!

But New York City, oh my GOD. I mean, it's iconic for a reason, it's steeped in our culture - countless films, songs, stories all hail from here, about here, because of here. So going there and ticking it off my imaginary bucket list was a fun time for me.
Not too shabby though not for the claustrophobic at times!
No filter needed #FreedomTower

The site of the Twin Towers was beautiful but extremely eerie.

Humidity on the water 1. Me 0.
NYC in the palm of my hand, you could say, or at least between my fingers!

Tipsy @ Top of the Rock!
The amazing views is what gets you, I mean a city is a city, is a city, but THIS isn't an ordinary city.

As I said before, she's iconic for a reason, and it hits you in the heart from the get go.
I got very attached to my floppy hat!
I fell in love basically.  The cheesy tees are right I do heart NY!

Living in Brooklyn, mastering the subway lines, alone (!!!) meeting the people, and seeing the 'real' parts of a city on a trip like this is what made it special. I could have easily just stuck with the big buses of tourists, and tourist trails of shiny NYC to find my way around and what have you - which is fine, but I needed something real. It was a personal test along side a much needed holiday, if I'm being totally honest. And I think I came out the other side a braver person for it.

My friend and her friends, all in one way or another proper locals if you will, intended to make sure I saw my fair share of 'touristy bits' (because hey I've never met a gift shop I didn't love!) but  that the other neighbourhoods beyond just the city itself interested me too - Like Dumbo, which I instantly fell in love with due to the architecture porn around every corner! We hit up Bushwick and I stayed in Crown Heights, loved the hilariously over-priced but very pretty Prospect Park. Brooklyn Heights to views of the East River, and all the other parks in between - Battery Park is beautiful  and something you experience a little of as you board the ferry to Liberty Island and Ellis Island,  as well as the big momma of them all - Central Park.

From the Village to Chelsea, to Governors Island (which I highly rec for a relaxing day on the hammocks - brings snacks!)  to Liberty Island, to Manhattan, and back again. I covered a lot of ground in 8 days, and my legs and knees (the joys of zero cartilage, lemme tell you!) My spirit guide Sarah was thankfully there to guide me through the trickier parts of things, intro me to American  sized food portions (oh,my,god?) and teach me that, yes, I can master the subway system at night. That day drinking is acceptable, people love tattoos and this is a city that gets my sarcasm, and also has a real weird love for Irish people.

Winning?

A little.

Starbucks and chill in Battery Park
You can't go to NYC and not experience their pizza. Even their worst pizza, I'd imagine is better than our best. It has ruin all overs for me, I won't lie!

The lovely Mandy over at +Gypsy Warrior in NJ! Be sure to check out their online store! So much to love!

Climbing inside her was a odd experience!!

Blue skies and education from Ellis Is. +Evelyn Hill | Ellis Island Events

I'm so glad I went in early Sep. I got the best of the weather (for an Irish girl 33c is enough thank you!) but also the fall of the leaves in all the pretty neighbourhoods <3

I learned they take their Brunch VERY serious in Brooklyn

Ever feel like you're being watched?

Spirit guide basically! I have the direction of a drunk hamster!
I did mention the religion that is brunch, right?
Sarcasm is the best marketing tool ... no?

@CentralPark you beaut <3 I fell in love, even if my legs want to kill me!

+Times Square is an assault on the senses, in the cheesiest touristy way ever.

All in all like any trip it had it's up and it's downs, but thankfully so many more ups! I met some fantastically creative and positive people, made new friends and caught up with old ones ( PS: a blog post on my first +Reiki Healing  session coming soon!). I experienced a city I've always wanted to see. I can't wait to go back, as with somewhere this innovative and ever changing, there is still a ton for me to do and see, and to check off my little bucket list.

So, until next time, NYC in my 20s was a blast. Let's see how she treats me in my 30s! :D

Clarins Instant Concealer Review - with added Irish Humour!

Hi guys!

I'm back with this little beauty of a find that I picked up over Christmas.

The Clarins Instant concealer.

Shame on me as I had no idea this was floating around since late 2013? And as a fan of +Clarins UK  that is a shame on me because I should have seen it, but missed it! Not anymore! Oh it's just so lovely you guys. It's very smooth and creamy though really a liquid application that offers medium coverage when set.
Now two of my faves from this brand together - Both in the shade 01!

Consistency is creamy and blends well against veins and blue skin colouring

See? No veins! Let's not comment on how pale the rest of me is compared to their palest shade shall we? So place I'm almost see through eeeek!!
My main under eye issue is that 'sunken' look you get some times from being dehydrated and sleep deprived and all the other things that life throws at you, not so much the blue/dark under circle issues but more the 'oh dear she's near death??' looks if I go without makeup because team that with the super pale skintone ... well it's a bit of a shock let's not lie! But I was really surprised by the transformation. Meaning, I actually had some blue tones that I just wasn't covering properly because the out come of this vs the others that don't tone that down?

Sort of stunningly different!

So, I loved the idea of trying this repeatedly and wore it all through out January just to see - as it promises not to crease and so far I haven't had an issue with creasing or drying out. Because of this I would wager that it's a good one for us dry-skin types or mature-lady skin types as well, as it won't sit in the fine lines around that area nor will it settle and do that awful 'crack' thing concealers with a decent coverage tend to do sometimes, you know? It's that the worst kind of crack?Minus-Craic as we say! (Craic, it's an Irish thing you're with me here right?) It also states that it promises to 'revive' tired eyes. As I've been unwell lately, I certainly have put that to the test, and honestly beyond the sniffles, no one even guessed so there you go!

Ps. Adopt the 'pat, pat, pat' way of applying this and it will go miles more on such little product as opposed to the swipe and rub motion!

My only con to this would be their shades are very, very limited. Which is a shame for my darker skinned ladies and just baffling to me, because everyone needs to be able to benefit from under eye goodness right?? Get on that Clarins!! :o

EXTREME CLOSE UP WAYNE'S WORLD STYLIE. But a well blended finish me thinks, even in super bight lighting and taken with my phone. Sorry HD cam is on the blitz :((
