Diet Coke with Belfast Fashion Week Design Awards - Last call!

Anyone that knows me knows that I have a bit of a @DietCoke addiction. You see, I'm a weird Irish person in that I hate tea, I hate coffee (though, love the smell) and generally avoid hot drinks in general if I can help it (Starbucks hot choc in winter not withstanding of course). So my drink of choice is either ice water or forever faithful, Diet Coke. So, when I heard on twitter for the BFW peeps about the Diet Coke Design award and all that it offered the winner I felt the need to share it with you guys. Basically,  The Diet Coke Design Award is in conjunction with Belfast FASHIONWEEK and is back for 2013 and there’s only a short space of time left to enter!

This year, in celebration of Diet Coke’s 30th anniversary, they're looking for entrants to design a unique garment inspired by the past 30 years of fashion i.e. ‘80s, ‘90s or ‘00s. Three shortlisted finalists will have their design created by Una Rodden and each will be showcased on the A/W Belfast FASHIONWEEK catwalk.

The winning design will be announced at Fashionweek by a team of judges with the winner receiving a place on a highly coveted fashion course at the London School of Fashion including flights and accommodation as well as a photoshoot with fashion photographer Khara Pringle.

To enter, download an application form and competition brief from www.belfastfashionweek.com

I think this is a fantastic opportunity for the creative genius running around that could benefit massively from this. I unfortunately can't draw a straight line, but I could write you a book if you'd like? For those of you that can design and are looking for a challenge, you have until Sep13th to enter! So get cracking!

Follow FABB Friday.

It's been a while since I did a Follow Friday, mainly because I forget at times to follow the blogs I love properly. Instead I save the url and revisit when the mood hits for some light reading. I really need to start following more blogs and really hopping back into the bblog community a little more. As it stands I'm a member of #FABB a little but fabulous group of Northern Ireland ladies who blog on all manner of subjects. From Fashion and beauty to lifestyle and motherhood, there really is something for everyone and everyone for someone on the #FABB list! Be sure and check out these ladies, and follow and show some love!

Of Belfast, Northern Ireland, Christmas Markets & Mumford & Sons.

Myself in a horse-shaped hat! As you do!

This weekend was a busy one for me and a few friends as we traveled down to Belfast for the Mumford &Sons concert that was playing on Saturday night at the Odyssey. We had sprung for VIP tickets, and never was I as glad that I overpaid for something as I was that night. The seats were wonderful, as was the bar treatment and the meal, not to mention the show itself. If you are a fan of Mumford, I strongly recommend seeing them live at some point; I promise you will not regret it! The most incredible atmosphere I think I have ever experienced at a concert!
Mumford!

However, before and after said concert we indulged in a little last minute Christmas shopping, and it was our first time to visit the Continental Market that visits Belfast every year around this time.
The market itself is filled with various stalls from all around the world, all of them offering a taste of somewhere new and exciting. The majority were food stalls, and if you are brave, there were many stalls with some … unusual items on sale. Kangaroo burgers, I’m looking at you! Nevertheless, if you aren’t so adventurous there are tons of other stalls offering everything from crafts, gardening accessories & plants, clothes, hats, shoes! You name it; they have it, from around Europe and beyond these stalls offer the causal Northern Ireland shopper a little something from abroad, right at home. German beers and Bratwurst to Spanish Paella, Waffles, Crêpes and Dutch pancakes, Cakes, Cheese, the list is endless it really is, and if you’re hungry enough your palate will thank you for a number of new experiences!
Here are just a few of my snaps from the weekend!

Have you been to the market, or Belfast at Christmas? What did you think of it?! Let me know!!
