In the past year I’ve grown weary with my focus on just Beauty & Skincare on my blog.

Basically, I want to use this site to explore all the loves in my life. Don’t get me wrong, I still adore all things makeup & taking care of your skin, & I will continue to talk your ear off on those subjects, however I want to sprinkle other things in here too.

I hope you don’t mind!

I love home decor, & TV and Film ( a little I’ve touched on in the past, it was part of my degree after all!)  I love to travel, & I love to wine & dine with friends. So! Coming in 2017, Editor In Chic will have more of all of those things! Stick around, it’s about to get REAL! 😀

Ps. Thank you to the almost- 900,000– visitors, and over 2000 social followers to Editor-in-Chic in the past, it is utterly amazing to me that anyone saw anything I had to say, that many times – so much love ❤

Jessica Alba's 'Honest Company' Launch Beauty Line.

While it's not a household name in this part of Europe, Jessica Alba's billion dollar company has been making headlines, for all the wrong reasons on this side of the pond (you know, nappies burning skin, sunscreen not doing all that much screening! Eek!) But, I figure my lovely American readers (Hi thanks for popping by all of you :D!!) would be interested to know that her company is set to launch it's own beauty line on September 9th.

As you know, I'm always on the lookout, not only for new cosmetic lines to try (because hey, who doesn't like trying new makeup, right?!) but to find some that have a certain ethical code, that also promise to be kind to skin and offer as many naturally based ingredients as possible, it's a mission. But, when you stumble upon them it's rewarding in a weird makeup obsessed way, right?

The beauty line will have it's own website too, and as such may be hoping to distance itself from the product fail scandal of late.

The collection promises to include a whopping 17 options for skincare, and a 66-product makeup range including lip pencils, concealer, blushes, eye shadow to name a few pieces. The skincare options will, apparently, offer SPF-infused moisturizers (made from an entirely different formula from the failboat ones causing all the scandal, thankfully!. They'll also offer skin cleansers and eye creams all with the promise from THC that it would be made from natural ingredients, naturally.

So my question is this, do we care? Do we need another celebrity beauty range making us promises that it may be unable realistically to keep? As seen by the SPF fails and such within their other lines?

Hm. I'm not sure, but having options is never a bad thing. My American peeps will have to tell me all about if they decide to give The Honest Company an Honest try! (Sorry, I do love a good pun!)

4th of July- - Cocktails&Cupcakes

With summer well under way I was so happy to celebrate (in our own little non-American way) the 4th of July with friends (and a Bestie's baby's big day!) this past weekend. Showing up in red, white and blue I representing to say the least! All thanks to the beautiful gift I received from Onjenu London.

The super soft silk-feel of this faux-wrap style 3/4 sleeved midi dress meant I could enjoy my day in the sun, have a ton of fun with friends and not have to worry about how I looked OR felt. So comfortable and stylish, and for me a bold choice as I'm usually a plain vs print kind of girl! But this might just be a step in a change of direction for me, so much colour I was hard to miss!

Anything that starts off with spontaneous selfies is sure to be a good time, right?
Cheeeeese!

Midi-length and so comfy!

Matching Cocktails??

Standard mirror-mirror selfie! Hi!

You have to rock a red lip with a dress like this right? Did I pull it off?

A little red, a little white and of course something blue - and so sweet!

Hope everyone had an amazing and stylish weekend no matter what you did!

The Duchess, the baby, that blow out and the dress!

Proceed with sarcasm.
Breaking News! Woman has second child! - Someone on my facebook.

Now, being Irish I can say with a certain honestly that the English Royals aren't really 'a thing' here. But of course the Ladies, Princesses, Duchesses and so forth certainly are on the world wide radar when it comes to style.

Psst - what do they DO exactly? I still struggle with this?!

Duchess Kate never fails to bring that elegant modern aesthetic to her outings and with each pregnancy she kept up the tradition of clean lines, amazing coats, and oddly sensible but rather normal shoes.

Let's talk about that dress. As with little George, Kate chose a custom made Jenny Packham dress - this time deviating from the Diana tribute and going with a more ... that table cloth your gran had when you were a kid look. No? I mean it's very cute it really is but it still resembles a table cloth to me. Teaming that with William's overly large 70's collared shirt and receding hairline and it feels very, casual. And honestly, slap an instagram filter on it and it may as well be 1979.

Seriously though, you birthed a Princess, am I alone in thinking there should be diamonds for something like that?

I'm joking of course, kind of. But this new generation of Royals are super casual, they want you to know that. They shop in Tesco, they recycle clothes, they announce their little princesses via twitter just like whatsherface from over the road that had a kid once. They are just like us commoners.
Except not really.
Not at all.
And there should be diamonds.

(c) Alan Davidson / The Daily Mail - No infringement.

Forgetting about the diamonds for a second, let's cut the woman some serious slack. She just birthed a human eight hours before and there she was being paraded in front of the world - literally - and the expectations were high.

Such nonsense really though isn't it. Having spoken to friends who've had children they will safely tell me that what she does - what the world expects so soon after such a huge event in a woman's life - is nothing short of a nightmare. Some struggle to even have the energy to brush their hair, never mind find the heels and the smiles to greet the world's press.

It may help to have Royal money and a team of experts. Ah, those experts, wouldn't it be great to have them around on the daily! Beyond that, let's take a look at some more commoner friendly Duchess Duds and Blow Out (that's a blow-dry to you and me) secrets!

The sweet yellow buttercup pattered (was someone watching Princess Bride while pregnant?!) custom Jenny Packham was both post-natal perfect and early summer appropriate.

"Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their baby daughter," the designer wrote on her Twitter & Instagram. "The Duchess wears a bespoke silk shift dress with buttercup print. JP x"
If you can't drop four grand for a custom Jenny Packham, dahling, then we must have some alternatives? Of course we must! Feat: +LuLus.com  +River Island  +ASOS  +Little Mistress

With her bouncing baby girl came the bouncing Cambridge Curls, and a few secrets to that voluminous kind of blow dry can be yours in a few simple steps!

Step1: Apply a thickening lotion or oil to the hair and work thoroughly through with a wide-tooth comb.

Step2. Always work from the bottom layers up when blow-drying your hair—  remember to pin the top portion as this helps you better see what you're doing.

Step3. Grab your hair at the roots and run the medium sized round brush down strands to avoid frizz, moving the blow-dryer with it as you go along. Make sure to keep the point of the nozzle downward.

Step4. Heat defense spray!!

Step5. smooth out your hairline by facing that section away from your face, fully encase the hair here around the round brush and turn as you go.

Step6. Once your hair has completely dried, be sure to wrap the curls around your fingers while it's still warm to create a pin curl and pin until cooled.

Step7. Spray with a secure hold hairspray and shine spray if desired.

Step 8. Go find that crown!

Okay so step eight is optional! But still, have fun recreating the look!

Til next time!

TanOrganic - Tanning Oil Review!

Hi guys!

With Spring peeking around the corner (hopefully!) it's about this time of year when we start wanting to pack away the layers and break out the florals and freshness of the new season. It's also the time when we have to say goodbye to our winter paleness, usually covered by long tops and coats, and the holy grail of the thick black tights!

Admittedly, some of us Irish girls get a bit of a shock when we do though, thoughts of 'surely I'm not that pale!' being one of many! But if like me you actually ARE that pale, then a little bit of fake bake goes a long, long way.

 TanOrganic Tanning Oil

I had heard a ton about +TanOrganic via social media and friends, and promised myself once the new season came around I would treat myself to a new glow. The T.O guys kindly sent me a sample bottle to try first, complete with an amazingly efficient exfoliating  glove and a sweet box of chocs as well!

Getting down to the nitty gritty though, what makes it different? Well, I did a little bit of research before I tried, and I found that it was actually the first tan to be *ECO certified, made with 87% certified organic ingredients! Which is amazing for those of us worrying about what we're putting on our skin and want to rein in the artificial ingredients.

See a full list of the goodness here!

It's a tan that loves skin as much as your skin will love it

With tons of skin loving oils like Rosehip, Argan, and Coconut to name but a few, it becomes obvious that this isn't just another tan. It's a tan that loves skin as much as your skin will love it, and you feel that from the very first application. I was weary as I am with most 'gradual tans' as I've had bad experiences (being so pale) when they develop no matter how well I've blended and applied, I always end up with massive obvious patches and streaks. So, I applied one thin layer of tanning oil and waited.

The first thought was that it felt really nurishing against my skin, it didn't feel packed on or heavy either which was a major plus for those of us that like very little fuss.

The next thing I noticed was how nicely it developed, and continued to do so for at least 24hours. Which means to me that it's really build-able, I personally like a light tan most of the time, but I know my friends prefer a deeper tan as their go-to shade and come summer this will achieved so easily with something like this.Even after two days (and a gentle shower!) there were zero streaks and minimal fading (though the tan is very easily removed with the amazing Tan Organic exfoliating glove, five minutes in the shower tops, ladies!)

*ECOCERT is an organic certification organisation, founded in France in 1991. It is based in Europe but conducts inspections in over 80 countries, making it one of the largest organic certification organizations in the world. The certification process is voluntary but it is also one of the most stringent in the market as Ecocert undertakes at least one inspection per year, supplemented by spot checks over the course of the year.

Now for a comparison!

Yes, I am the palest person in the world, I reflect light! *and I am wearing a dress in the first pic, just in case it's not clear!Oops!*
Before one application of T.O - I am Casper!

After one light application and a few hours development

Like I said, I like a light application but this can be easily reapplied to achieve the desired result if you need a darker shade without the fear of being 'tango'd' I promise.

I really love this nourishing oil, and I would recommend it if you're looking for something easy and ethically made not to mention environmentally friendly. As well as that we're supporting a home grown Irish brand! Sure what else could a girl want?!

Clarins Instant Concealer Review - with added Irish Humour!

Hi guys!

I'm back with this little beauty of a find that I picked up over Christmas.

The Clarins Instant concealer.

Shame on me as I had no idea this was floating around since late 2013? And as a fan of +Clarins UK  that is a shame on me because I should have seen it, but missed it! Not anymore! Oh it's just so lovely you guys. It's very smooth and creamy though really a liquid application that offers medium coverage when set.
Now two of my faves from this brand together - Both in the shade 01!

Consistency is creamy and blends well against veins and blue skin colouring

See? No veins! Let's not comment on how pale the rest of me is compared to their palest shade shall we? So place I'm almost see through eeeek!!
My main under eye issue is that 'sunken' look you get some times from being dehydrated and sleep deprived and all the other things that life throws at you, not so much the blue/dark under circle issues but more the 'oh dear she's near death??' looks if I go without makeup because team that with the super pale skintone ... well it's a bit of a shock let's not lie! But I was really surprised by the transformation. Meaning, I actually had some blue tones that I just wasn't covering properly because the out come of this vs the others that don't tone that down?

Sort of stunningly different!

So, I loved the idea of trying this repeatedly and wore it all through out January just to see - as it promises not to crease and so far I haven't had an issue with creasing or drying out. Because of this I would wager that it's a good one for us dry-skin types or mature-lady skin types as well, as it won't sit in the fine lines around that area nor will it settle and do that awful 'crack' thing concealers with a decent coverage tend to do sometimes, you know? It's that the worst kind of crack?Minus-Craic as we say! (Craic, it's an Irish thing you're with me here right?) It also states that it promises to 'revive' tired eyes. As I've been unwell lately, I certainly have put that to the test, and honestly beyond the sniffles, no one even guessed so there you go!

Ps. Adopt the 'pat, pat, pat' way of applying this and it will go miles more on such little product as opposed to the swipe and rub motion!

My only con to this would be their shades are very, very limited. Which is a shame for my darker skinned ladies and just baffling to me, because everyone needs to be able to benefit from under eye goodness right?? Get on that Clarins!! :o

EXTREME CLOSE UP WAYNE'S WORLD STYLIE. But a well blended finish me thinks, even in super bight lighting and taken with my phone. Sorry HD cam is on the blitz :((
